Chris Munkacsi loves being an Esquimalt resident and is passionate about our local issues. He is a long-time resident of Esquimalt and community volunteer. Chris currently serves as a commissioner on the Esquimalt Advisory Planning Commission, working directly with development applications and community building by providing advice to Esquimalt Council on policy, housing and zoning issues.
He is also a member of the Esquimalt Chamber of Commerce and previously served as a Director of the Esquimalt Residents Association. He is a single parent of an active teenager at Esquimalt High School, who keeps Chris engaged on climate action and social justice issues.
Chris has extensive experience in both business and all levels of government. He began as a parliamentary aide to Cabinet Ministers and Members of Parliament in Ottawa. He then came on to B.C. to work for a variety of provincial government ministries. He currently serves as a Ministry Branch and Project Coordinator for the Province of BC working with policy, legislation and indigenous relations.
Chris is a local small business owner, operating a project management consulting business. Notably, Chris worked with the Public Health Association of BC throughout much of the COVID-19 pandemic and has worked for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind and other businesses and non-profit organizations. He possesses a Graduate Certificate in Project Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Studies/International Relations.
Chris is passionate about working to build livable and healthy communities, addressing family affordability issues and supporting local business opportunities.
